|
As the debate continues about the disenfranchisement of the Muslim youth, many organisations have implemented various activities to tackle the problem. Having spent a lot of time researching the actualities of the problem, As-Suffa Institute has found them to be complex, and beyond the simplistic stereotypes being portrayed in the media and elsewhere. The problem with the Muslim youth is not solely a problem of “frustration” at current events, but moreover is deeply rooted in their understanding of Islam. The result of this problem is evident in the ever-growing Muslim prison population, drug abusers, violent behaviour, gang crime and prostitution, to name but a few.
You are the best people ever brought forth to men, urging what is right and putting a stop to what is wrong, whilst believing in Allah (Surah al-Imran, verse 110)
We at the As-Suffa Institute believe that the future of Islam lies in educating our young with the values of the sacred Islamic Knowledge, and concurrently taking pride in beneficial skills obtained in the contemporary English education system. This balance of knowledge will enable each young Muslim to take their place as an effective member of society, exemplifying the beautiful Islamic character and possessing the correct Islamic teachings to meet the challenges of the modern world. As-Suffa Institute was established in 2004, and has been working painstakingly with its scarce resources to educate the Muslim youth at different levels, varying from our daily Maktab classes, community building projects and our Islamic Study Courses. Our aim in As-Suffa Institute is to advance the Islamic Education given to the Muslim youth within the UK, and to provide an effective framework for it. This is implemented by the sacrifice of the teachers within As-Suffa Institute producing eminent methods to achieve self-sustaining results. As-Suffa Institute is situated in the heart of the Muslim community, and attracts many young Muslims throughout the country. It boasts a very strong community acceptance and has an inspiring role in building bridges within the Muslim community itself. |
