Provided it is not to show off and for pride, it is allowed. Islam teaches us that our bodies are not our properties but are really the properties of Allah ta'ala and they are a trust with us. Thus we should look after them and not allow harmful substances to ruin them and ensure that enough exercise is done to keep them fit. In fact the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said that everything has got rights and even our body has got rights over us. The rights of the body include not exposing the body to dangers and harm, and ensuring it is well maintained. If we exercise with this intention, not only will we keep our bodies in good shape, there will be Barakah (blessings) in such exercise and furthermore every press-up we do, every mile we run will be rewarded by the Almighty as we did these things with the intention that this is what the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) has taught us to do.
