| Why so many Religions? |
Question:
Does Allah SWT love us all, despite being believers and unbelievers? If Yes, then Why did Allah allow so many religions in the world when Allah could have said "Kun Fayakoon" for one religion, Islam? How could Allah SWT be Most Merciful, Most Compassionate and yet can destroy mankind and disbelievers who never knew Allah SWT , thus never knew Islam at all, due to Muslims like us who do not share Islam to them? Why have the Religions on earth brought enmity amongst mankind, such that some are willing to destroy each other through their certain political laws? Answer:
Such questions about Allah ta'ala and His Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) do not befit a believer, Allah taala says: “He is not questioned about anything that He does, but they indeed will be questioned.” (Sura 21:24). Such questions were never asked even in the time of the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) even though at that time there existed the opportunity, through revelation, to gain an answer. Rather, the believers, in their entirety displayed humility before their Creator and acknowledged their own mental incapacity to understand and Allah ta'ala's infinite wisdom in all that He does. This life is a test from Allah ta'ala to see which of His servants will be obedient to him without seeing Him. Thus he endowed them with free-will to choose the right path or not, and He, in His mercy and justice, made the Truth clear to see for those who wish to see it. The nature of free-will is that a person can choose whatever they wish, good or bad. And this is what makes man superior to the angels and makes his/her worship of Allah taala of a higher level. This answers considerably why there is not just one religion. Regarding those who never got the message of Islam, or children who though were born to disbelieving parents, died before reaching the age of sensibility (Buloogh), the scholars have differed. Thus the sound view is to leave this issue to Allah ta'ala's knowledge, knowing that Allah ta'ala, will judge with His infinite justice and mercy. On the last point, Islam is a religion of peace; in fact its name comes from the word in Arabic for peace (salaam). Islam’s laws are full of justice and equality. Even a rudimentary reading of Islamic teachings and early Islamic History will make it clear to you that there is no religion on earth that has shown the tolerance and respect Islam does to people of other religions. I am somewhat taken aback by your complaining against religion when it, in the modern age has been altogether phased out from the political arena. The greatest atrocities that have been wreaked upon humanity such as the Holocaust, Nagasaki and Hiroshima, etc. at their root were the result of irreligion and a rabid secularism and hedonism. So rather than vent your anger out on Religion you need to look deeper into the issues and you will realise the problems, wherever they are today, are a result of the absence of religion and particular the True religion of Allah, Islam.
