| Allegiance to a group |
Question:
Is it permissible in Islam for one to join himself with a particular group and call himself either a Salafi, Tabligi etc. I personally am of the opinion that joining one group causes more divisions in the muslim community. Answer:
If using such names is with the intention of causing devision and disunity amongts Muslims then it is wrong, however, if it is done sparingly when there is a need to, such as when one needs to inform someone of the Madhab (legal school) one is following then there is no blame in it. But certainly we all should be careful not fall into a clique mentality and avoid all such things that create aversion for other Muslims.
