Question:

I know it is not possible for the Satan to take the form of the Prophet (saw), but is it possible Satan can take another form and claim to be the Prophet (saw)?

I ask this because some people claim that Satan can do this and this is why many of the dreams of the Awliya are fake.

Answer:

Shaikh Abd al-Aziz Dhelvi in Fatawa Aziziyyah, pg.327, states that he can, and this can be a means of misguiding people. Thus it is essential that whatever a person sees does not conflict with the Shariah as that is the ultimate criteria, which alone has a binding value.
