| Giving sisters dawah |
Question:
I wanted to start giving all the sisters in my university dawah and I do not know how to start it and what exactly to talk about. Could you outline how i should approach them and what I should talk about. Answer:
There are many things you can do: 1, Start a weekly study circle. It does not have to be all about Fiqh though you should have a Fiqh component. You could select topics and get a sister to research and deliver a talk on that subject e.g. the way to bring up childrn in modern society, or, The ettiquettes of reciting the Holy Qur'an etc. 2, Distribute litrature and talks to sisters. This can be by lending them your own books or acquiring free booklets from various Dawah organisations. 3, Speak to sisters one on one. By this I mean that during your socialising with sisters, you should have also in your mind the intention to tell them something about Islam, whether that be an invitation to a talk/course,or tell them some Masalah they may find interesting, or tell them a Masalah they seem to not be aware of, eg wearing perfume in public or nail polish. 4, Many people do not realise this but one on the best means of Dawah is by one's own manners and behaviour. As a Daiyyah you should be impeccable in your manners. You should be the first to lend others a helping hand, to relieve a person in difficulty, console and sympathise with a person who is suffering in some way. It is also from the pre-requisites to successful Dawah, that the Daiyyah be truly humble, this means that he should not look down upon others. Thus, his/her tone should never be condemning, nor should he ever become abusive or harsh towards those he is calling. Rather he should meet everyone with a smile and show tolerance. A daiyyah is like a Doctor whose aim is to remove a cancerous lethal infection from a patient. The Doctor must be compassionate and realise his only enemy and target for anger is the infection and as for the patient, he only deserves his compassion. Finally you should take out a little time every day (even just ten minutes) and sit by yourself and do Dua to Allah taala and ask Him sincerely, to make you a means of guiding others, to enable you to spread the Deen and to guide you to become a better Muslim.
