| Working as Graphic Designer |
Question:
Is it permissible for Muslims to work as Graphic Designers since this profession is intimately related to the use and manipulation of images? I work for a company that produces packaging designs for confectionery. Some of the confectionery produced by the company is Haraam (i.e. products contain animal derived gelatin/pectin). Am I still permitted to work on the designs for this packaging?
Answer:
It is permissible to be a graphic designer as long as the work does not involve deception, immodest imagery and the making of images of living creatures. As for your job at the current place, if the work is of this nature then you should try to seek alternative employment.
