Irregularity of menstruation cycle

Question:

My last period was irregular, it lasted for 5 days which is unusal as it usually lasts for 8 days. the bleeding was on and off like usual. I was clear at 2.00pm on a Wed, howerver, exactly 14 days later I saw my period again. I feel this my be istehaza as it not been a full 15 days but this is a regular period with the normal bleeding.  Is istehazza blood different? Sometimes I think the irregular period may have been Istehaza as the bleeding may have been less than 3 days and 3 nights. I don't know which Qada namaaz to read.

Answer:

The five days should not be considered as a new kind of period, rather view it as your normal period of 8 days, even though the following three days you did not see blood. Then all the days after that (11 days plus) consider as Istehada. Thus the blood emanating now, because the days are less than 15 days, must be considered as Istehada until your time for your period comes. Thus, because a woman with Istehada is required to pray each prayer with a new Wudhu, you will have to repeat (Qada) that number of prayers you think you prayed without doing a fresh wudhu.
