Question:
what is the significance of the 15th of shaban?
Answer:

This night is a very auspicious night in the Islamic year. It is also established that the Sahabah, Tabeein and pious people throughout History would honour this night by spending it in worship. Allthough some people claim today there is no basis for this special status for this night this is incorrect. In fact there are no less tha ten hadith that speak of the 15 of Shaban as being a night when Allah taala out of His mercy decides to forgive millions of people. According to the classical Muhaddithin and Fuqaha, although the chains of these narrations have weaknesses, put together, they strengthen one another thus establishiong the truth of this night.
Although there is no specified way to spend this night, one should spend it performing various different acts of worship such as Salah, recital of the Holy Qur'an, dhikr etc. It is also permitted to fast the followwing day.
