Have I given my wife Talaaq (Divorce)?

Question:

A few years ago I said to my wife "I will leave you", however, I did not use the word "talaaq" and at the time she was pregnant with our fourth child and there were no witnesses.  This was done in extreme anger and I was not my normal self.

Recently a few days ago, infront of two people and whilst in extereme anger, I said to my wife two times that I will give you talaaq, however, it was not my intention to leave her.

We both do not want to divorce as there are two children involved.  Has the divorce been given?  What should be our next step

You should fear Allah taala becase, clearly, you lack any real fear of Allah. You seem to appreciate that divorce is a dangerous thing and when four children are involved it is extremely serious.

Two talaaqs, in the manner you have mentioned, will make the woman go into Iddah, however, you may take her back by simply saying I take you back. Note, if after taking her back you give her one more talaaq it will equate to three talaaqs and you will not be able to get back together at all.  After taking your wife back, I adivse you both to start to practice the deen correctly, sit with pious people, listen to Islamic lectures of the scholars as these are all means for you and your wife to become better Muslims which will also make your marriage more secure in the long run.
