| Relationship before marriage |

Is it permissable to have relationship before marriage? Answer:
To have a relationship in the manner irreligious people do today is nothing less than Zina. For example, there is no place in Islam for dating, being alone with a stranger or having conversations over the phone, internet etc. for the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said the eyes fornicate, the hands fornicate as does the mouth. The reason Islam forbids such pre-marriage relations is because such intimacy can and does lead to many evils, the mother of them being Zina. Islam permits for a man or a woman to only see each other on a pre-arranged occassion, where the walis (gaurdians of the girl) are present when questions can be asked.
