| Should we read Rabbana Lakal-Hamd loud? |
Question:
In ruku, is the dua to be recited out loud. It appears to be differences in the schools of thought, though I read in a hadith that says, "when the Imam says: Allah listen to the one who praises Him, then say: O Allah! Ou Lord, to you be all praise. for he whose saying coincide with that of the angels will have his past sins forgiven. Is the dua to be said out loud or silently?
Answer:
The Dua: Rabbana Lakal-Hamd (O Allah to you is all praise), is said quietly (sirran) after the Imam has said: Samiallahu li-man hamida. The two sentences are divided between the Imam and followers, that is only the Imam will say the latter (Samiallah.), and only the followers will say the former (Rabbana.). The proof of this division is the hadith you mention of Imam Bukhari, where the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, taught that the two sentences are split between the Imam and the followers. See I`ila al-Sunnan, p15 vol.3.
