Question:

I would like to know if it is valid for a late comer to the fard salah to join the prayer with someone who's finishing their sunnah salah? It happened to me where I was praying my sunnah after fard and a brother joined me to pray his fard salah. I was confused and did not make any jahr during the salah but he kept following me in salah motions.

Answer:

It is not permitted. You were right to ignore the brother. It is simply impossible for him to make you the Imam when you have not even intended the Fard.
