Question:

I heard that some people are able to control jinn’s by reading certain surahs for 40 days and this enables them to do things like seeing in to the past. Could you please clarify this (with evidence if possible)?

Answer:

The jinn are a creation living in an existence similar to our own in that they have free will and have free will to worship Allah taala. Thus it is not permitted to, regardless of the method used, to make Jinns subserviant to oneself. Those Aamils (spiritual doctors) who work with Jinn to help undo magic etc. do so not by forcing those Jinn but by pious Jinn willingly giving their assisstance.
