| Friendship between boys and girls |
Question:
I am a boy and I have an online friend but she is a girl. We have never met and have never seen each other, we just chat online by writing. We have been friends for about two years. Is this type of friendship allowed in Islam? Answer:
Such a relationship is haram, for it is a means to Zina or fornication. Allah taala says in the Holy Qur'an: Do not go near fornication. (Sura al-Israa:32) It is obligatory for you to sever this link you have created and to seek Allah's forgiveness for your past sin.
