| Should I continue with my studies? |
Question:
It took me three years to complete an IT course (from home). I paid a lot of money for this course and now that i am about to complete the course, i have doubts in my mind as to whether or not should i go out and work. My husband is the sole provider and i do not really need to work to support him. i did istakhara 3 times and had dreams everytime that i am involved with islamic teachings either in a class room or in public giving explanations on various toppics of islam. Despite this, I am still unsure about whether i should take the final exams or quit. What does the dream means? if i do quit one i will be wasteing all that money i paid for and second i will be letting my self down infront of family members. could you please guide me in the way of Allah and the Prophet(SAW). My views on life have changed and I now want to give importance to the life heareafter.
Answer:
Since you have paid for the course and spent such a long time in completing it, you should do the exams for it. This does not necessarilly mean that you should also pursue a career. Islamically, though women are permitted to work if there is need, if she does not have any need she should channel her efforts in learning her Deen, teaching her children and serving the deen. The dream is a good sign from Allah (SWT). It means you should focus on getting involved in the transmission of the teachings of Islam. We live today at a time when many Muslims have gone away from the Deen, many of our brothers and sisters are involved in the greatest of sins like Zina, drugs, disobedience to parents, not offering the five obligatory prayers. The situation is worse for sisters because there is very little for them in terms of knowledgeable sisters in the deen who could guide them. Thus there is a great need for learned sisters to become active in teaching our sisters and making them realise the deception of this World and acqauinting them with Allah taala and his Messenger (SAW).
