Wudu and problems with Acne and Wind

Question:

I understand that wudhu breaks if blood or pus is released from the body. I have severe acne and it is often the case that this happens after wudhu.

Also, my youger brother has severe stomach problems and releases wind very often as a result. This makes it extremely difficult for him when performing salaah. Please can you offer some advise on these circumstances or if there is anything else we need to do to ensure that it remains intact.

It is correct that if blood or puss comes out of a wound (acne), the Wudhu will break. As for the case of your brother, he too will need to repeat his Wudhu. The noble Sharia has given a dispensation to people who are simply incapable of keeping their Wudhu for a long period. However the condition to be met before one can avail of this dispensation is that one not be able to keep the Wudhu for the length of time it takes a person to perform Wudhu and offer the Fard Salah. If this is the situation of a person he comes under the category of "Mazoor." The detailed rules for the Mazoor are:[1] For a person to come under the category of Mazoor he/she must suffer from the problem (bleeding, discharge etc.) incessantly for a whole prayer time. Even if the bleeding etc. stops in this period for a brief time but not enough to enable one to do Wudu and offer the Fard Salah it will not prevent a person from being considered a Mazoor.[2] Once a person comes under the category of Mazoor it is not a condition that this state continue incessantly in the next prayer times also. In fact to remain a Mazoor all that is required is that the problem by which he/she became counted as Mazoor be found in the next prayer time even if it is not incessant. This may even mean one has enough time to do Wudu and pray the fard Salah.

[3] The Mazoor will cease to be counted as such if a single prayer time elapses without that specific problem/Uzr being found at all. In this case he/she must pray the current prayer and the ones that follow with the normal Wudu.
