Question
I want to accept Islam and become a Muslim, how do I do this?
Answer
To become a Muslim it is very simple, all that is required from a person is to state verbally (believing in his statement) that: "There is no object of worship other than Allah and Muhammad is His Messenger." The Arabic of this is; Ash-hadu al-Laa Ilaaha illallaahu wa ash-shadu anna Muhammadar-rasullalah. It is preferred that a person take a full bath before doing this as it signifies a major new start in one's life and as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, when a person accepts Islam Allah in His Infinite mercy forgives him all his past sins. Thus it is a totally fresh start for him/her.
It would be good if you did this infront of an Imam and some other Muslims. If you would like, you are welcome to come to our Institute where we can arrange this for you.
It is also important that once a person makes this testification he also starts to slowly and gradually also acquire the knowledge of the essential teachings of Islam related to how to pray etc. Again the Institute would be happy to help facilitate this for you. In particular you may be interested in our new Muslim programme to begin shortly. If you have any further questions please do contact us.
