Question
In my University, the imam leading the Jumuah prayer accuses people, including great imams of the past of being Kaafir. Is it permissible to pray behind him for Jumuah?
Answer
Declaring a Muslim a kafir makes the speaker himself a Kafir because the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said "If a person says to his brother Kafir, one of them will certainly be so," (narrated in Mishkat al-Masabih). Thus if you believe the Imams he has accused of being Kafir were actually Believers, it would not be permissible for you to pray behind him.
