Alhamdulillah, we recently acquired new building within walking distance of our existing building in Aston, Birmingham. The building was formerly used by the local authority as offices and requires considerable amount of renovation work before it can be used by As-Suffa Institute to offer our services to the Muslim community.
Over the past few months we have been working towards developing a 10 year vision for As Suffa Institute in order to shape the re-design of the new building to meet our needs and to expand and diversify our services.
Inshallah our plans will transform the way we operate and Inshallah achieve our vision. Accordine to the current proposals the new building will be re-designed to allow:
10+ classrooms: our goal is to offer all our courses to sisters and all rooms will be fitted with the latest technology to ensure full segregation is maintained without compromising students learning experience.
Auditorium: a lecture-room style auditorium for our intensive courses will double up as a sports hall and a youth centre as we expand our services.
Meeting and Conference Room: dedicated meeting room to plan and manage meetings more effectively to collaborate with other institutes and offer the rooms to other local organisations.
Two large offices: space for scholars to have a dedicated "staff" area to prepare course materials and complete administrative tasks.
Over the next 5 years we hope to have at least 10 part-time Aalim classes, increase the size of the maktab, deliver more intensive courses, provide more community facilities such as legal and social counselling, establish As Suffa Institute as a base for those who revert to Islam and finally to establish some youth provision.
Inshallah, we will be launching various fundraising activities over the next few months, however, a group of local brothers recently raised over £20,000 by cycling from London to Birmingham.
