Question

I intend to travel more than 88 kms away from my residence with intention to stay more than 15 days at the destination. Do I have to pray Qasar during the travel.

Answer

No, you will have to complete your prayers i.e. Zhur, Asar and Esha prayers will have to be prayed four raka’ats (units), as you intend to take residence at your destination for a period more than 15 days.

Imam Al-Mawsili states:

And its obligation in every (prayer consisting of) four units two raka’as.

And (a person) becomes a Musafir (traveller according to Shariah) if he leaves the houses of the city intending a journey of three days and its night, at the pace of a walking camel and by foot. ....... and he remains under the ruling of a journey until he enters his (home) city or intends to take residence in a (another) city or town for more than 15 days.’
