Question

Whilst reading the Holy Quran, should one recite it with your lips and toungue or can it be read in the heart?

Answer

To gain the reward of Reciting the Holy Qur'an one must pronounce its letters on the tongue. To merely scan the text with one's eyes is not enough. However, if one were studying the meanings and message of the Holy Qur'an, and the aim was not recital of it, then it is permitted to read it without reciting it. Furthermore, such a study of the Holy Qur'an is also rewarded.
