Interfaith

Project background

At As-Suffa, we encourage and value dialogue with all faiths and beliefs. In the past, we have worked closely with many religious groups and have participated in a broad range of interfaith activities. Representatives from the As-Suffa Outreach team have been invited to many events throughout the year, including the Bishop of Birmingham’s Grand Iftar, The Nishkam Lord Mayor Ceremony, Vaisakhi, Understanding Judaism event, The Mayor of West Midlands Faith Conference, and much more. We were also happy to have taken part in the Birmingham Conversations. This is where people of all faiths came together to discuss sensitive issues. We then formulated plans and solutions to these topics.

Furthermore, we are also proud to be members of Birmingham Council of Faiths. During the Interfaith Week, we hosted our 3rd Interfaith Food Outreach event. On this occasion, people of different faiths attended and assisted us at our Homeless Project.

In addition to this, we hosted our neighbours from the community during Ramadhan 2018 to allow for a more collective experience of Iftar within the community. This included non-Muslims, Muslims, community leaders, and our resident scholars.
