BA in Islamic Studies

Date: Mon, Wed, Fri
Time: 2 - 5pm

Course overview

The traditional Alimiyyah is a rich and comprehensive course with its own inherent strengths. We believe these strengths are key to nurturing graduates and future leaders in the Muslim community who are equipped with the scholarly credentials essential to addressing some of today’s most pertinent problems. Unfortunately, the Alimiyyah is not an accredited course which means that students often graduate and are forced to take a course providing them access into higher education thereafter spending a further 3+ years studying at university. The Markfield Institute of Higher Education has been dedicated to delivering courses that aim to provide solutions to emerging contemporary issues in the Muslim community for the last two decades. With the wealth of experience they have in accredited higher education and their success in equipping Alimiyyah graduates with academic skills the partnership means that our students get to benefit from both of these institutes at the same time in one space.

As-Suffa Institute is pleased to announce that we are now able to offer a unique opportunity for students who enroll on our Alimiyyah, and Heirs of the Scholars course the option to complete a BA in Islamic Studies alongside their Alimiyyah qualification. This is due to our partnership with the Markfield Institute. We strongly believe we are the only place of learning in the entire country that offers such a choice. The inclusion of the BA (combined with the Alimiyyah) allows students to gain an accredited and recognised qualification that not only develops their critical thinking and academic skills but also enhances their job prospects and provides further options for each student following their graduation.

The Markfield Institute is also offering the BA in Islamic Studies as a standalone course at As-Suffa. This course is open to everyone subject to entry requirements. We also offer qualified graduates of other Alimiyyah institutes and madrassas the opportunity to commence the course from year 2 (3-year course) onwards.

If you wish to enrol on this years course at As-Suffa Institute, please register via the following link: BA (Hons) in Islamic Studies

The BA in Islamic Studies course with Arabic (pathway) is £5,500 per year. The BA can be studied alone, and students do not have to be enrolled in the Alimiyyah course. The course is entirely on-site, and our BA is identical to the full-time BA offered at the Markfield campus.

As-Suffa students are required to successfully have completed the first four years of the Alimiyyah course. The modules that they cover during the Alimiyyah course mean that they will be exempt from the first year of the BA through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Students are normally required to have 5 GCSE’s. If there are any further enquiries about entry requirements please contact info@mihe.org.uk.
